Hoy escribo sobre el cole porque hay muchas cosas que contar jajaja.
Esta semana ha estado muy divertida porque el lunes no hemos tenido cole porque fue Thanksgiving, y el resto de los días hemos tenido que ir vestidos de diferentes cosas. (En la página de días especiales lo explico todo).
Aparte de todas las cosas divertidas que hago no me puedo olvidar de que he venido hasta aquí para estudiar y tengo que aprobar todo.
El colegio al que yo estoy yendo aquí es Riverview High School (RHS). Los colores de mi colegio son el rojo y el blanco, así que cada vez que el equipo de hockey del colegio (Redmen) juega todos los alumnos que van a animar y son de RHS se visten de rojo y blanco.
Como ya mencioné en alguna entrada anterior el curso está dividido en dos semestres, y en cada semestre hay cuatro asignaturas (aquí se llaman periodos) que tienes todos los días. Cada clase dura una hora y cuarto y los métodos de evaluación son diferentes a los de España. Normalmente, cada semana tengo un quiz de cada asignatura (en los quizzes entran ejercicios sobre lo que hemos dado durante la semana, y dependiendo de la asignatura valen más o menos sobre la nota final). También hay assignments que son parecidos a los quizzes, pero en los assignments puedes usar tus apuntes y entra todo lo que llevamos visto, no solo lo que hemos visto a lo largo de la semana. Los quizzes son como "examencillos" y los assignments son como ejercicios de clase, pero que luego son evaluados y cuentan para la nota. Y por último tenemos tests (exámenes) en los cuales entra todo lo que hemos visto en la unidad y es lo que más cuenta en la nota final. También sé que a mediados-finales de noviembre voy a tener los mid-term exams (en los cuales va a entrar todo lo que he visto en lo que llevo de curso), y después de navidades voy a tener los term-exams (en los cuales entra todo lo que he visto a lo largo del semestre).
Esta semana ya han abierto de las pistas de patinaje así que ya he patinado aquí jajaj. Una cosa curiosa es que aquí cada uno lleva sus patines, no es como en España que pagas por entrar en la pista y alquilar los patines. Cada uno lleva sus patines y la mayoría son patines de hockey (son muy chulos). Para patinar sobre hielo, en la región en la que yo estoy solo hace falta casco en el centre 200 así que de momento no necesito casco porque he ido a patinar a otro sitio.
Si llegas aquí y te pasa como a mí (no traigo patines de España), aquí se pueden comprar de segunda mano baratos (10-20$ canadienses, que son 6-13 euros) y sino seguro que alguien te puede dejar patines (yo estoy usando los que se le han quedado pequeños a mi vecina).

Hiii!! I finally find time to write more!
Today I'm going to write about the school because there are so many things I want to say hahah.
This week has been very good because on Monday I didn’t have school because of Thanksgiving and the rest of the week we had to dress up with different things. (In the page “special days” I explain everything).
Apart from all the things that I’m doing to have fun here, I can’t forget
that I’ve travelled to Canada to study and I have to pass everything.
The school that I’m attending here is Riverview High School (RHS). The colors
that represent my school are red and white, so every time the hockey team of
the school (Redmen) plays all the students from RHS that go to support their
team dress up with red and white clothes.
As I mentioned in a previous entry the course is divided in two semesters,
and in each semester you have four subjects (here they are called periods) that
you have every day. Each class is one hour and fifteen minutes long and the
evaluation criteria is different works different as in Spain. Usually, each
week I have a quiz of each subject (the quizzes consist of exercises that we
have been doing along the week, they count more or less in the final mark depending
on the subject). Also, here they have assignments that are something similar to
the quizzes but in the assignments you can use your notes and it includes all
that we have seen of the unit, not only the little thing that we have seen
during the week. The quizzes are like “mini exams” and the assignments are like
class exercises, but later they are collected and marked for the final note. Ultimately
we have tests (exams) in which we get evaluated from all the unit and it is the
thing that has more importance in the final grade. Also, I know that at the
middle-end of November I’m going to have mid-term exams (in which I have to
study all the things that I’ve been doing he whole semester), and then, after Christmas
I’m going to have the term-exams (in which I have to study everything of all
the subjects that I have in the semester).
This week the ice rinks have opened so I have already skated hahah. A
curious fact is that here if you want to skate you have to bring your skates,
it’s not like in Spain, where you pay for getting in the ice rink and get
skates. Everybody bring their skates and most of them are hockey skates (which
are really cool). If you want to skate, where I live you only need a helmet in
Centre 200 so for now I don’t need one because I’ve been in other ice rink.
If you arrive here and you are like me (you don’t bring skates from your
home country), here you can buy second hand skates that are not really
expensive (10—20$ Canadian dollars, that are 6-13 euros), and if you don’t want
to buy skates you can get skates from somebody (I’m using the skates from my neighbor
because they are small for her).
