En esta página voy a contar las diferentes fiestas que hay aquí en Canadá y como las celebramos en el cole y en mi casa de acogida.

In this page I'm going to write about all the "special days" that I'm celebrating here in Canada and how I'm celebrating them.

PINK DAY

Este día solo lo celebramos en el cole. Es algo que para mí fue especial porque no lo he hecho nunca en España. El pink day es un día en el que todos los estudiantes y profesores de todos los colegios tienen que vestirse con algo rosa, y de esta manera representan que están en contra del bullying y del ciberbullying.
Es algo diferente y que me llamó la atención. Estaría bien hacerlo es España también jajaja.

I have only celebrated this day in the school. It was special for me because I haven't done it in Spain. This day consists in wearing something pink and go like that to school, because it shows that teachers and students are against bullying and ciberbullying.

BONFIRE

Aquí es muy común quedar con tus amigos en alguna casa y hacer una hoguera (bonfire), es una manera de hacer amigos y pasarlo bien.
El otro día hicimos una en mi casa de acogida y fue muy chula. Vinieron todos mis amigos internacionales y mis amigos canadienses, al caer la noche encendimos la hoguera y comimos marshmellows (nubes) :)

Here it's really common to meet with your friends in somebody's house and do a bonfire. It is a good idea to make friends and have fun.
A few days ago I did one at my home and it was really cool. All of my international and Canadian friends came, and while it was dark and a bit cold we turned on the bonfire and we ate marshmellows :)

THANKSGIVING

Esta fiesta es típica de América y se celebra para dar gracias por la cosecha de todos los años. En esta fiesta es común cenar con la familia comiendo pavo.
Celebrar este día con mi familia de acogida ha sido impresionante. Por la mañana mi host-mum estuvo cocinando un montón de cosas y mi host-sister y yo la estuvimos ayudando. Fue entretenido porque teníamos que cocinar para 21 personas así que había muchas cosas que hacer. Lo más importante es el pavo jajaj aunque también hicimos puré de patata, un acompañamiento de patata y zanahoria, remolachas con vinagre, jamón cocido y gravy (es la salsa que se pone con el pavo, está hecha con mantequilla, leche condensada, pimienta y sal.)
Al acabar de cocinar llevamos toda la comida a la casa de la hija de mi host-mum y allí nos reunimos todos. Me lo pasé muy bien, y además tengo la suerte de que la hija de mi host-mum tiene otras dos estudiantes que también están en mi cole así que es genial. También hice decoraciones para la mesa con mi host-sister.

This festival is  typical of America and is celebrated to give thanks for the harvest every year. In this holiday it is common to have supper with the family and eat turkey.
I celebrated this day with my host family and it has been amazing. In the morning mi host-mum was cooking lot of things because we had to cook for 21 people, it was busy. The most important thing was the turkey, but we did other things too such as mashed potatoes, an accompaniment of potatoes and carrots, beets with vinegar, ham and gravy (sauce that goes with the turkey, it is made of butter, condensed milk, pepper and salt).
When we finished cooking, we took all the dishes to my host-mum's daughter house and there we met all the family. I had a great time, and I am lucky because my host-mum's daughter is hosting other two girls that go to my school so it is perfect. Also, I did table decortions with my host-sister.

TWIN DAY

Este día lo celebramos en el cole. Es un día muy gracioso porque tienes que ir vestido al colegio exactamente igual que otra persona, tienes que ser "el gemelo" de otra persona.

I have only celebrated this day in  the school. It's a funny day because you have to dress up like another person and both go to school wearing the same clothes, you have to have "your twin".

SPIRIT DAY

Este día es de mis favoritos. Como los colores de mi cole son el rojo y el blanco, este día consiste en ir vestido al colegio con ropa roja y blanca para representar el espíritu de RHS.

This is one of my favourite days. The colors of my school are red and white, so this day simply consists on dressing up with red and white clothes to represent RHS spirit.

TRIP TO LOUISBURG
Hace unas semanas todos los internacionales y algunos buddies fuimos a Louisburg. Este es un pueblecito costero, tiene un faro (que es muy famoso), algunas casitas y hay mucho verde por los alrededores. Pasamos allí todo el día y estuvo muy bien.

A couple weeks ago all the internationals and some of the buddies went to Louisbourg. It is a little seaside town, it has a lighthouse (which is very famous), some houses and lot of green areas in the surroundings.We spent the whole day there and it was really good.

FRIGHT NIGHT

Ayer por la noche fui con mis amigos a la fright night. Fright night es como un túnel del terror, y este año lo han preparado en el wildlife park Lo pasé muy mal y a la vez muy bien jajaj. La gente que estaba disfrazada y asustando a los demás eran todos voluntarios y era muy gracioso cuando alguien te daba un susto y un segundo después reconocías a la persona que te había asustado.
Solo ir si queréis pasar miedo jajajaj.

Yesterday night I went with my friends to the fright night. Fright night is like a tunnel of terror, and this year it took place at the wildlife park. I had a bad time and a good one at the same time haha. The people who was dressed up with costumes were all volunteers and it was so funny when somebody scared you and just one second later you recognized that person.
You really should go if you want to be scared hahah.

ST. PETERSFIELD

St. Pertersfield es un parque precioso. Ahora todas las hojas de los árboles se están cayendo y el suelo está lleno de hojas rojas y amarillas. El otro día estuve allí con unos amigos e hicimos algunas fotos jaja.

St. Petersfield is a beautiful park. Now, all the leafes from the trees are falling down and the floor is covered by red and yellow leafes. A few days ago I went there with some friends and we took some pictures hah.
